Biking in Costa Rica 8 Days and 7 Nights
Starting in The Caribbean and ending in the Pacific side.

Starting in the Rain Forest

1- First Day : Airport pick up and transfer to Sueño Azúl Hotel in Horquetas de Sarapiquí.

Depending on the time of arrival, this day we could make a fitting of two hours in the hotel surroundings.

Spend your first night in Costa Rica at a jungle lodge located in the north Caribbean lowlands of Costa Rica.

2- Second Day :Immediatley after breakfast we start biking in the middle of the jungle through dense vegetation and mud at an eleveation between 200 meters above sea level ( 660 ft ) and 400 meters above sea level ( 1320 ft ).

Distance to bike this day is 30kms.(18.75 miles)

There is no support van this day as the van and no other vehicle can pass in this part of the jungle, however we will have radio to comunicate in case of emergency and we can also have two or four horses with us, depending on the size of the group. At the end of the day we arrive to another jungle hotel . This region belongs to the " Rain Forest Area " where the temperatures is hot and humid. The town became famous since local people says "Mother Virgin Mary" appeared here. Lot of people from all over the country arrives to adore the place where the image was supposed to appear.

3- Third Day : The early the better, we drive from the hotel to a place called "San Gerardo", where we start biking on our third day of an unforettable biking adventure. We take a dirt road for 28 kilometers (17.50 miles) passing by pineapple and orange plantations. After biking 12.50 kilometers we arrive to the little town of Carrizal where we reach paved road for about 6 kilometers (3.75 miles). We pass another little town called "Santa Rita" and then another one called "La Tabla".

Always on dirt and gravel road we arrive to the town of "Pital" where we will stay overnight camping. This is a special night, probabbly the only one we have to camp. Tent camps will be displayed under trees and food and drinks will be served to be eaten on the ground where we can share our biking experiences.

4- Fourth Day : Depart from Pital biking in the same conditions and passing by forest of Melina, Teca, Jaúl and Balsa trees. Yuca (Manihot Utilissima) plantations can also be found here. The temperature is hot and there will be some dust. The experience is incredible and the amount of toxines getting out of our bodies is something that is worth.

This routine will lead us to Castelmare Jungle Lodge, a gift from God after a hard bike ride under the sun. The place has a pool where you can get in as soon as you get there.

5- Fifth day : Today we have a long day biking challenge, so it is better to start as early as possible. We will bike on dirt and gravel road for approximatley 50 kilometers. On the way we will pass by jungle and sugar cane fields. We will reach a paved road that will lead us to a pretty comfortable hotel where we will stay overnight.

Day sixth : After breakfast we depart to La Fortuna town for a stop at Tabacón Resort, (Optional) a place located at the base of Arenal Volcano where tourist from all over the world come to relax in the hot springs. This resort has a natural hot stream that descend from the mountain. There are also several pools with different temperatures in order to provide visitors the chance to choose the more convenient temperature.After relaxing in the hotsprings, we will drive after dinner to the hotel where we will sleep our last night.

 

Day Seventh : After breakfast we return to San José in order to give you a free afternoon in case you want to walk in the city in your last Day. If you wish, we can take you to souvenirs stores in a suburb in San José.
